Screen St Ives

The community cinema @ the Corn Exchange

Screen St Ives is the new community cinema for St Ives in Cambridgeshire.
We are based at the St Ives Corn Exchange and are supported by ACE, the group which rescued the building and which has now registered as a charity, continuing to support it as ‘ACE – Friends of St Ives Corn Exchange’.
Our programme of monthly screenings covers a wide variety of films, with the aim of promoting access to cinema, encouraging interest in film as an art form, and fostering a stronger sense of community within St Ives and the surrounding area.

Each screening includes a brief introduction and is preceded by a locally produced short film, often made by students from nearby St. Ivo School. Refreshments are available before the screening, and an optional post-film discussion group encourages people to talk about the merits of the movie just shown. Everyone is welcome to come along and join us.

Films are normally screened on the third Friday of each month, upstairs in the Tony Burgess Room (seating is currently limited to 50). Doors open at 7.30pm for 8pm start. Ticket prices are £5.

Forthcoming screenings include:

We want to hear what you would like to see. Please get in touch with your ideas, or if you would like to get involved.

ACE has joined the BFFS (British Federation of Film Societies) and ‘Filmview’, which ensures we have a wide range of films to choose from, and that we are registered for the payment of film royalties, and to take money at the door.

ACE is working with St Ivo School, and other local film-makers, including local junior schools, to provide a showcase for local talent, and will be arranging film screenings for all sectors of the community.

‘Screen St Ives’ screenings to date have taken place with the aim of testing the available areas in the Corn Exchange and to build up support and funds for the projection equipment which will be required if films are to be shown in the main hall.

‘Screen St Ives’ is not a film club – all films are open to everyone in the community.
